What happens to the equipment at outdoor concerts?
What happens to the equipment at outdoor concerts? I went to an outdoor concert and it started raining and all the lights and speakers got wet among with the projectors. Do they all get damaged? Do they have to buy new speakers and lights after each storm the equipment go through?
Luckily, that kinda thing doesn't happen every day. Most of the gear that makes it through a show like that is still good, and the sound company that leases it for the show will use it again. If something was to get drenched enough for it to breakdown, they might tear it apart to see if certain components that were damaged can be replaced and fixed, though a huge company may just order a new unit. All in all, if any gear is good quality, it's built right anyway to withstand the rigors of the road, including moisture, bangs, drops, etc.
