Phantom Black
In a heavily planted tank, can you use CO2 to lower the pH to trigger Black Phantom Tetras to spawn?
Can you? If no, is there any other fish that are likely to spawn in a aquarium other than liver-bearer fishes?
I'm not sure because the plants will absorb all the CO2. But if you turn the lights off while the CO2 is injected...that's another story. If you CO2 system is a plug-in type, then you could connect it to a timer at night, but not for long. It would be risky to try because if you inject too much, your fish could die.
Most pet stores sell aquarium peat, which lowers the pH and softens the water. But it also makes your tank have a brownish color, which isn't really good.
