Would it really be continued on the show 24? He tortured a terrorist information that has saved 40 lives in an attack and then get sued for it! Are there laws for interrogation of an emergency?
Haha interesting question - there is a defense called "necessity" which means in practice (in some states) you can commit crime, if it saves one life (or life). This defense is limited, however, and there must be a reasonable belief.
