"DAY'S END"
The table, set for dinner.
Tapers aflame,
echoing the flames in the fireplace.
Last vestiges of the setting sun,
framed in the window -- a mellow
soft mourning for another day passed.
An enticing aroma of stew from the kitchen,
a lovely treat for this special occasion --
the anniversary of our love.
I put down my briefcase
and shut the world out with the close of a door --
and wait for you to appear.
Down the stairs you glide, with your
fluffy pink nightgown fluttering around --
you, the very model of Venus herself.
Your face radiantly shining, Love itself
shining from your eyes, and your rosy cheeks
still sporting the beard you refuse to shave, dude.
See, now you can't find sh!t like that at hallmark! I feel the love all the way from here.
